YOUR VISION,
OUR MISSION!
The Three Pillars of WeigelXAnderson
EMPOWER
We want to empower all students to use their voice, share their wants and needs for campus, and ensure all students feel heard and represented! It’s important to us that we act on what all students want to create a campus and culture that is based on student feedback. By providing opportunities to submit thoughts/ideas to improve campus, we get to empower all students by having their voice heard – and enacting their missions!
ENGAGE
We want to get all students engaged on campus. Whether that be in co-curriculars, within the Fargo-Moorhead community, or in conversations with faculty and staff, increasing engagement will make students feel a greater sense of belonging. Simply put, we want to increase opportunities and promotion of these opportunities. After all, if you don’t know what’s available to you, how are you going to take advantage of it?
Secondly, we want to engage more students in conversations with faculty, staff, and administration. Last semester, there was a “Hear the Herd” event put on for students to express concerns or questions directly to faculty (including President Cook). It was awesome, but it was not well promoted, and there were not many students that attended. We want to continue these open forums and help students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts (and even in attending). The more students we get involved to provide feedback and have these conversations, the more they will feel at home and like a valued and heard member of campus!
EVALUATE
Evaluation is an integral step in good leadership. We are going to evaluate current practices and policies at NDSU to make sure that they are serving student needs. If they are not, in the case of the office hour policy or teaching quality, we are going to work closely with faculty, administration, and the three senates (Student, Faculty, and Staff senates) to make changes when appropriate. By using evidence of student needs as reason for change, these practices will become best practice.
Another main goal is to evaluate ourselves. As your leaders, it is vital that we are making progress in our goals and making change on campus. Our final goal is to continuously evaluate our efforts as your leaders to ensure we are actually making a difference on campus and for each one of you!
